Ryans Buffet - Poor Conditions Review from Tampa, Florida

This happened at store #2107 in spqrtanburg, S.C. at store18:53 on Mother's day (May 11, 2014). Servers standing around putting other servers down. No team work. Tables staying dirty the whole two hours we were there. Bathrooms were just plain nasty. Could not and would not use them. Received old rolls that looked like someone had been eating on them by picking on them. They were not that busy. My baby son had took me, his pregnant fiancee, and his dad out to eat. This was one of the worse experience ever at Ryan's. We love Ryan's and eat there every year on Mother's day and special occasions. I do have pictures of the rolls, our empty drink glasses, and the nasty bathrooms.

Mothers Day Breakfast Review

We ate breakfast for Mothers Day in Athens at Ryans. The food sucked. All the meat was overcooked to the point it crumbled when broken, no bacon at anytime in the bar. The hashbrowns had so much grease you could not eat them. Eggs were consistently runny. When management was told, he stated there was no excuse. They had enough people working today. Wasted $37. Only decent thing here was the server.

I went to Ryan's in Hopkinville, Ky.store number 2404

On Easter Sunday 4/20/2014 I went to dinner being an older person on limited income I know Ryan's gives discounts for us , but today I get charged $12.49 for my meal instead of $10.49. i asked the manager about it and she said it was because of Easter and they had extra items out , but it looked the same to me nothing different . In fact they had less deserts no pies at all only had vanilla soft serve ice cream working. Really going down hill at this store. I feel I deserve a refund on order number 0266. Thank You, Vincent Hadden 206 Copeland Rd. Clarksville , Tn. 37042

I'm an older person on a limited income, and I don't go out to eat. I eat at home.

What is on a buffet line, depends on when you get there.

You and your buddies really don't have anything to complain about. Next time get there when they open and you can be first in line.

Guest

LMAO! My name is None of Your Freaking Business.

And no one said you were in England. Personally, I think you are in LaLa Land.

Guest

anonymous you are a *** we are not in England we are in the united states as far as free no willing to pay for it if its there which it wasn't so *** me and see you afraid to disclose your name

Guest

I see your friend is requesting a refund too, for an equally ridiculous reason. Two words for ya: Soup Kitchen. There you could have gotten turkey, ham, dressing, potatoes, green beans and dessert for $0.00.

Guest

Buffets are always more expensive on holidays such as Easter or Christmas and Thanksgiving, because YES they do put out additional food items. How can you justify asking for a refund on your food?

You ate the food and did not complain there was anything wrong with the food, so why shouldn't you pay for it? Your request for a refund makes zero sense to me.

Went to Dinner at Ryans store # 2404 Hopkinsville KY.

A friend & I went to dinner at your Hopkinsville store. We paid full price for the meal for extra food on the buffet that by the time we got there it was all gone. All they had on the line was the regular stuff. I was told they had prime rib& ham. Plus a lot of the food was not very warm. I feel that I should have been able to get my senior discount plus only pay the regular price Instead of more & getting less.Plus the quality of your food was very poor.I feel that I should get a refund on ticket # 0267. I will tell my friends that they should go somewhere else to have buffet dinner.Like golden corral there food is much much better quality than yours. So from 4/20/2014/ I will stop going to Ryans for dinner

Where do get saying that I have no right asking for a refund because they didn't put out what they advertised. So why don't you keep your *** English comments to your self you dork

Guest

You posted this twice. Your friend, ticket # 0266 also believes he/she is entitled to free food.

As I previously suggested, next year consider a local soup kitchen or rescue mission type place. They service a free Easter dinner to people who can't or won't pay for their meals, no questions asked. And by all means, consider going to Golden Corral next year.

Your crony stated in his letter that he paid $12.49 for the buffet. Newsflash: Golden Corral's Senior price on the buffet today was $13.49!

Unbelievable family

Is it a company policy to get drugs from your employees because in marion ohio that is what is allowed to happen.EVer since that store has lost the last 2managers mike and the short stocky guy that store is a mess .I am very concerned of what goes on in this FAMILY restaurant I want this looked into ...I will follow up and make sure someone looks into this. As long as it doesn't interfere with your personal business, it isn't any of your concern. Keep your nose out of things that don't concern you.

How do you know a lot of customers feel the same way as you.

Posting your complaint here and saying your want the restaurant to look into what is going on, isn't going to do any good. You have to complain on their web site.

Ashamed and disappointed

My wife and i brought our two children into ryans steakhouse 2144 E Walnut Ave, Dalton, GA.The steaks and food were alright and the servers were more that polite how ever half way threw our meal the manager i believe his name was Kurt started screaming at one of the servers for not sweeping good enough underneath our booth,i understand as a manager this is his job.I over looked it in disappointment until this Kurt guy used the lords name in vein...Then i couldn't help but Intervene. I immediately got my family out the door and made it clear we wouldn't be coming back ever again,we are a christian oriented family and were very disgusted in the morals of this manager! While the other manager Don did nothing about it.We have been regular customers there for over 10 years and we wil not be going back.

First B

So go back one more time and pay for your meal in pennies, nickels and dimes and quarters.

Guest

I don't care if someone wants to curse in the back, in the kitchen or in their office, but I A. don't want to hear someone's nasty mouth while I am eating and B. I sure as heck do NOT want to listen to a manager verbally attack an employee

Guest

For the one who commented . You must be the manager that was cursing or is a manger that curses at your employees at you business.

Guest

You might be alleged Christians, but I always doubt it when people bring up that they are Christians. That being said, it isn't any of your business how other people talk.

It was your choice to leave, and it is your choice to not go back to the restaurant. How did you intervene?

Taking your family out of there wasn't intervention, it was leaving.

I went to Ryan's in Hixson, Tennessee for lunch, had a bad experience. I wrote to Ryan's about the experience and got the response below...

On Tue, Dec 3, 2013 at 4:11 PM, wrote: To whom it may concern, Thank you for contacting us regarding your most recent visit to Ryan's in Hixson. I am truly sorry that you were disatisfied with your visit. We always chang from breakfast to lunch at 11am. Our process is to move all breakfast items to one bar and chang the other to lunch. This process can be very confusing and disrupting to our customers. We are trying to let our guests finish breakfast while letting other gusets enjoy lunch. Again I sincerely apologize for the inconvienence this caused you. I would like to offer you a guest pass so that on your next visit you can have lunch on us. Please feel free to call me at any time to arrange a time to pick this up. Thank you, too, for addressing me as "To whom it may concern." That really makes me feel like you care!! It would appear you are so stinking cheap you won't send me this "pass" and you want me to come pick it up? I don't think so!! This e-mail, combined with the lousy experience I had at your restaurant, has convinced me not to return to Ryan's, and to share my experience with others. You can do better than this. Also, try getting a spell check for your computer. E-mails with misspelled words really annoy me....

You are a ***. Someone apologized and you bashed them. You should stay home and eat a sammich

Guest

Ryan's would have used a form letter and it would have been some wage slave desk clerk's responsibility to fill in the customer's name. I would not be at all surprised if the customer did indeed receive such a ridiculous letter. And, obviously, the gift card should have been mailed.

Guest

How rude you are. People like you are what makes restaurant managers look bad when all most want to do is give you a rewarding experience and a good meal. You should be ashamed for even posting something like this seeing as how they tried to compensate you when what she should of done is told you to kiss her *** and have a *** day

Guest

I bet you edited the review yourself to make it look like they misspelled the word change, I mean one typo is understandable but two for the same word? Most likely you made the reply from the restaurant up yourself.

You sound like a three year old throwing a temper tantrum when you don't get your way. There are other customers in the restaurant as well not just you.

They should give you nothing. The fact that they rewarded your temper tantrum is disgusting and your attitude shows how childish you are.

Courtnie Vei

What did you want? Did you want them to come to your house and kiss your entitled *** Did you want them to turn over ownership of the restaurant to you?

Do you expect money for pain and suffering? I think that the letter was very nice.

She simply explained what happened on that day (I can only believe her because you didn't tell your side) AND offered a free lunch. You have no complaint.

Side Job, partial pymt in increments

My Husband was hired to do a side job by the Manager, a month ago. He was originally offered a certain amount of money to do a job, but after the job was done, the Manager didn't even have the money to pay him, and had an attitude toward my husband about even paying half. The job was done at the restaurant after hours, but it was for the restaurant. He's been paying in increments ever since. He still has a small amount to pay but has an attitude still and has been making nasty remarks towards my husband and about him and threatening that he should have hired cheaper labor and threatening to hire someone to replace him. The manager is the one that offered that amount from jump, why get an attitude now?! My husband has been working at that restaurant longer than that manager has been manager at that restaurant. He's also been suspected of knocking folks hours off computer before submitting them, and other things. My husband has had one raise since he started there and one particular employee that has been there less time than my husband that has taken friendship with that manager has gotten 2 raises. (they smoke marijuana together on the job)

Working christmas

I am a regular at ryans. I eat their at least 4 times a week. this is not about the food it is usually good and service is good. I am treated very well when I go in to eat. I have got to know a lot of the servers their I like them all. that's why I am so upset. I found out that the employees have to work Christmas day. why would it hurt you to close 1 day a year. it is a religious holiday. people have kids and familes this is wrong. if this happens it will be the last time I eat at ryans. greed has taken over this country and it is sad I am not the only one that feels this way this is sad.

You eat at a Buffett at least 4 times a week??

Guest

Some restaurants have to be open on any holiday because travelers might have car trouble, the weather could cause problems, they could have to stay in town because a family member is ill. There is any number of reasons that travelers might be stranded in town, or did you plan on having an open house for any stranded people to come and eat?

This isn't any different than gas stations having to be open. As far as that goes doctors, law enforcement, fire fighters, emts.

all have to work on holidays. The way I look at it is it isn't any of your business to be discussing employment situations with the employees.

Zuria Eex

I support companies that treat employees well. I will not eat here again.

I did not shop on Thanksgiving or black Friday because the stores chose to be open on Thanksgiving, which is outrageous! If more people stuck to their morals and did the same it would teach the companies a lesson.

Instead people try to save a few bucks! I could use the savings, but God and family comes first!

Guest

Get over it, in 10-20 years this will be the same for all places.

Nasty

On September 20,2013 we were in Ryan's Steakhouse, around 2:30 in the afternoon, on Burbank Rd. Wooster, OH 44691. We used to go as a family group once a month. Because it looked nasty, and the food was not very good, and seemed to be worse each time we went, we had not been in a year. Decided to try again. The food was mediocre and barely warm, the floor looked nasty around the buffet bar. My biggest complaint is the cashier, Candace. She had a cold or allergies, and kept wiping her nose upward with the palm of her hand. I told my three friends, that it is a good thing she isn't working around the food. So after we got our food and sat down, I saw her wiping off the bar around the food buffet, and stirring the pans of food, all the while wiping her nose on her palm. This is disgusting and I assure you I won't go back again.

Most restaurants and food manufacturing companies REQUIRE their employees to come in sick. I work for a cheese manufacturing company, and unless you're deathly sick and contagious with a doctors excuse, they FIRE you for calling off sick. That poor girl probably can't afford insurance, as Ryan's pays certain employees minimun wage, and she probably can't afford to lose her job

"So after we got our food and sat down, I saw her wiping off the bar around the food buffet, and stirring the pans of food, all the while wiping her nose on her palm. This is disgusting and I assure you I won't go back again." this is what you wrote?? not sure about anonymous' comment? Think we get the point.....call the health department

Guest

My complaint didn't show were I had written about the checker wiping her nose with the palm of her hand, and later was wiping off the bar around the buffet, and stirring the pans of food, all the while wiping her nose on her palm.

You know.....there is a Health Department you could call.....right? They might be very interested and pay them a visit

Rejected a paying customer

My Familyand I went to Ryan's on Burbank rd in Wooster Ohio today and after we paid to be seated the manager came around the corner and said that "I had to turn my shirt inside out because there were other Family's and kids there! Iv already been there 3 other times wearing this shirt and not had a problem, in fact 1 of the servers even complimented me, said "He liked my shirt". Usually its me my girlfriend and our 4 kids in ages from 3 months to 11.. I feel he not only Stereotyped me but he Discriminated me as well... The shirt is green with black letters that says High As *** and spoofs another shirt from the beer company that makes miller high life that says High Life.. He assumed it was a reference to marijuana and wouldn't except my money. My Family is very unhappy about this and i refuse to turn my shirt inside out in any public place and feel that by him refusing us because of my shirt goes against my right to Freedom of Speech and how i want to dress! I can be reached by Email at jamiegraser@***.com

You wear a shirt like that around me I asked you to turn it inside out..If you don't comply I will arrest you for disobeying a law enforcement officer resisting arrest and disorder conduct. You would serve some time in my county jail.

Courtnie Vei

Freedom of speech? Crack a history book pal, and learn what that really means and why people died for it.

It doesn't mean you can just say anything you like. Plus, they as the business owners can decide who they will or won't serve.

Your protected freedom of speech does not apply there. Remember this example - freedom of speech doesn't give you the right to yell "Fire!" in a crowded theater.

Guest

Correct. In fact, come in to my store and I will throw you out, too.

Guest

Any restaurant I've ever eaten in has a sign that says "We reserve the right to refuse service to anyone." If you wear a shirt with language generally considered to be offensive on it, you really should not be surprised when people are offended by it.. Oh, and BTW, Freedom of Speech means you cannot be imprisoned or persecuted by the government for what you express.

It does NOT mean everybody has to like what you have to say, or that the owner of private property has to condone it.

Just ask Michael Richards. How do you feel when you have the kids with you and someone is wearing a shirt with the F-word prominently displayed on it?

Dinner 8/28/13 @#2218 Ryan's of Shawnee

In Kansas City, Went to Ryan's on W 75th with friend. Food offerings looked like they had sat a long time. Could not eat steak that was from the grill and the food table on east side of grill had dried out food. Only mashed potatoes, rolls and sea food salad looked good. Found fruit fly in my seafood salad. Ate mashed potatoes and roll. Cream pies were room temp but I ate a piece. It was good. Overall, I was nauseous from the setting and food presentations. We have a Ryan's in my city but I don't plan to eat there. $11.39!!
